TOUCHING THE
LIVES OF ISRAELIS

Strengthening KBY congregations makes progressive Judaism more accessible to the vast majority of Israelis who yearn for an alternative to the orthodox approach to Judaism.

STRENGTHENING
THE JEWISH STATE

Contributing to KBY makes a positive statement to Israel about the value, validity and authenticity of progressive Judaism by strengthening and empowering the 50+ Reform and Conservative kehillot in Israel.

Our Community...
aspires to combine Judaism and Israeli lifestyle.  We aim at presenting a meaningful Jewish way of life for those who do not think of themselves as religious and do not identify with religious orthodox views:  celebrating Shabbat and holidays, studying Judaism, and combining the old traditions with a considerable openness to relevant modern values.

We, at the "Yedid Nefesh" community, wish to bring to life that vision and believe that being part of a community is empowering, supportive and helps us to diminish the loneliness so prevalent in western societies.

Like a supportive family...
"Yedid Nefesh" eases the interaction of "new immigrants" to Israel with their new society and cultrural environment.

The community invites newcomers to the country to jin those who have been here for some time to experience the sense of belonging to the country and the people of Israel.  In this way we learn to go beyond carrying our Judasim and Israeli citizenship just as mere titles and learn to engage with and follow Jewish traditions and values, crating for our families and ourselves a warm, vibrant and exciting Jewish and Israeli experience.

Every Friday at 6:15pm ...
Kabbalat Shabbat.  Sitting in a circle, men and women together, welcome the Shabbat.

We also celebrate the holidays as a community combining tradition and relevant modern values.  Occasionally we get together on Saturday afternoons to sing, eat and study, brining an end to Shabbat and welcoming the new week with "Havdala."

An important feature of our activities is the bimonthly family trip to places with strong connections to Judaism and the history of Israel.
