Over the last few months Kehilat Tzur Hadassah has gone on some wonderful tiyulim (outings), had a meaningful kabbalat shabbat at the beach and sent a delegation of our youth to Noar Telem activities here in Israel and abroad.

Every few months our members and friends go off into Israel's beautiful nature for a family outing (tiyulim). Thanks to our cadre of volunteer guides we have not only educational trips but also enjoy each others company!

Here in this picture you can see Katryn Yaron leading us through the Beit Guvrin Nature Preserve explaining the strangeness and importance of raising pigeons in ancient times.

Kabbalat Shabbat on the Beach

One of the more pleasant events we had was to close off the school year and begin summer vacation with a Friday night Kabbalat Shabbat at the beach.

Quite a few families came out to the beach and all enjoyed swimming in the calm waters of the Mediterrainean Sea into the setting sun, singing shabbat melodies with our spiritual leader Ezzie Endi (in the picture) and of course there was great food and Israeli folksinging into the night!

Youth Activities

This year quite a few youth participated in the activities of Noar Telem, the youth movement of the Israeli Movement for Progressive Judaisim.

Nearly 20 kids went to the "Chavaya" summer camp and another 6 were fortunate to attend Reform movement summer camps in the United States, thanks to the generosity of members from Temple Beth Elohim in Wellseley, Massachusettes. As part of our continuing emphasis on youth and our connection to Noar Telem we sent over 20 kids to this year's national Sukkot overnighter. Here in this picture in front of the synagogue building, you can see some of our kids getting ready to get on the bus for the trip.
