Magen Avraham Congregation is part of the Masorti (Conservative) Movement, and was founded in 1973.  Members of the Congregation are residents of Omer and immediate vicinity.

Our new Rabbi Gil Nativ is a third generation Sabra born in Haifa. He was educated and ordained in Israel and is well known for his skills in Talmudic teaching, having served as a Talmudic lecturer at Haifa University, Leo Baeck College in London, and the University of Judaism in Los Angeles. He has served as President of Israel’s Rabbinical Assembly. Rabbi Nativ joins us at a time of much new activity at Magen Avraham.

The Congregation offers: Masorti (Conservative) Judaism emphasizing the cultivation of the spiritual qualities of each person. An egalitarian approach to men and women. Cultivation of the family unit.

Based in the ethnically diverse and multi-cultural Negev region, Mercaz Shiluv was founded in 2000 in response to an ever more apparent need to provide Israelis with a wider array of possibilities for spiritual enhancement than those currently available to them.

Our programs, both for the young and the young-at-heart, stress Judaism's pluralistic and egalitarian nature. In these difficult and trying times, Mercaz Shiluv offers the people of Israel access to Jewish spiritual enhancement that emphasizes the needs of both the individual and the community. Mercaz Shiluv encourages the partnership of study and action, and includes community projects that promote our values.
